Day 15
The trailer was re packed a few times before Steve, Jon, Chez and Ange left Kandersteg with the Landrover and trailer. For them it was a ten hour drive back to Gidea Park rotating drivers as they went. They arrived in the very early hours of the following morning.

For the rest of us, our train from Kanderstag wasn't until the evening so we had half a day to kill. All our kit was stored for the day in a large tent on the camp site giving us freedom to visit the town.

Kandersteg have a large collection of Group Neckerchiefs from all over the world. They already have a 3rd Gidea Park one from 1987! But they hadn't got a Greater London North East (GLNE) Scout Network neckerchief so Lisa donated hers. Our Explorers didn't have their own neckers at the time of the camp so they will have to add theirs to the collection next time.

We spent the afternoon in the town swimming pool and picking up odd last minute souvenirs for the journey home in the shops.

When it comes to posing the Romford Explorers were following the lead set by members of the Rowswell Venture Unit. We cooked our evening meal in one of the camp site kitchens before loading our kit into a van which drove it to the station for us.

|
As we walked down the road from the camp site to the town for the last time, it started to rain. By the time we had got to the station we were all soaked through. The station had been struck by lightening and had no power so the automated doors into the ticket office wouldn't open. The car park was rapidly flooding. We were glad we weren't camping. The Swiss railways are some of the most efficient in the world. The train still arrived bang on time!

| The train from Kandersteg took us to Bern where we changed onto an intercity train to Basel. Very late in the evening we changed onto the overnight sleeper train to Brussels. The end of a very long day. | ||||
