Saturday was a rest day. On Sunday we
were going to start the biggest hike of the
whole camp so Saturday was left free for our
bodies to recover from an energetic first
week.
It wasn't a complete lazy day though. Time was spent covering various
bits of badges and awards. Geoff gave two
excellent talks on mountain safety and
navigation. The Scouts were also tested
on their first aid and environmental
knowledge.

CHATTING TO THE EXPLORERS
One of the nice things about 3GP summer camps in Switzerland up until and including 2003, was that we always had a good mix of Scouts and Ventures or in this case Explorers. It enabled us to put on activities across a wide range of abilities, for example, older Scouts could mix with younger Explorers in hike groups if they were of similar ability. On this camp the fitter Explorers occasionally hiked with our experience Scout Network members. The wide range of abilities made it easier to tailor hikes for every ability and give opportunities for stretch challenges where appropriate.

CHATTING TO OUR NETWORKERS
Opposite the entrance to the camp site was the crystal cafe and
bar. On the very unusual occasion that the Scouts found
themselves with nothing to do in the afternoon they were allowed to
pop down for a cola and an ice cream with the leaders.
